Race: BC Superweek – Ladner Criterium

Start/Finish: Ladner, British Columbia, Canada

Distance: 54 kilometers

Ladner, CANADA – On Saturday, Team Novo Nordisk tackled the 60-lap Ladner Criterium on a technical downtown circuit. The 0.9-kilometer course featured tight corners at a high pace.

The crashed riddled race came down to the final laps, and four crashes on the last lap caused splits throughout the peloton. While all Team Novo Nordisk riders made it through unscathed, they were left with the task of chasing and closing down gaps. In the end, Mehdi Benhamouda earned a top 20 finish.

“Today was another super fast crit and I feel we did a better job. Personally, my legs definitely felt better. The strategy was to help Mehdi at the end for the sprint but it was super high speed, and we couldn’t find a good place.”

Team Novo Nordisk, the world’s first all-diabetes pro cycling squad, continues racing at BC Superweek on Sunday at the White Spot | Delta Road Road. The UCI 1.2 caliber single-day race runs through the heart of Tsawwassen. With UCI points on the line, Team Novo Nordisk is extra motivated to perform well during the 12-lap, 155.5-km race.
