Race: Tour of Hainan/ Stage 3
Start/Finish: Haikou-Wenchang – Yueliangwan
Distance: 136.5 kilometers
Overview: The third stage of Tour of Hainan began in Haikou, the capital city of Hainan, today and included three sprints. The pace was fast all day with near constant attacks and Team Novo Nordisk fought to make it into the breakaways. In the end, Arman Kamyshev (Astana) crossed the finish line first, while Team Novo Nordisk’s Nicolas Lefrancois (FRA) and Andrea Peron (ITA) finished with the same time as the winner.
“The riders continue to fight over and over for results,” commented Sport Director Pavel Cherkasov. “We feel strong and are ready to take on another day of racing tomorrow.”
Results: Arman Kamyshev (Astana) finished first with Averin Maksym (Synergy Baku) in second and Wouter Wippert (Drapac) in third.
Team Novo Nordisk, the world’s first all-diabetes pro cycling team, continues racing at the Tour of Hainan on Thursday. Stage 4 covers 145.8 kilometers from Wenchang-Oionghai to Xinglong.
