Changhua County, Taiwan — Team Novo Nordisk’s Charles Planet finished as the team’s top rider for the third consecutive day following Tuesday’s stage 3 of the Tour de Taiwan.
The 143-kilometer race started and finished at the Baguashan Buddha in the town of Changhua. Approximately 60 km into the race, a four-man break escaped and held on until the final moments, setting the stage for a sprint finish. Wouter Wippert (Drapac Pro Cycling) took the win ahead of Christoph Schweizer (Synergy Baku Cycling Project) and John Murphy (UnitedHealthcare). Planet finished 21st, six seconds behind Wippert.
Rémy Di Gregorio (La Pomme Marseille 13) remains the overall race leader with Planet 5:12 behind in 23rd place.
Stage 4 of the Tour de Taiwan is a 161-km race from Tainan City Hall to the Hibiscus Resort, both situation in Tainan City. The world’s first all-diabetes pro cycling team will face a gradual uphill start before tackling a category two climb 128 km into the race followed by several more short, but steep climbs.
