One of Team Novo Nordisk’s most experienced performers rolled back the years in today’s final at a wet edition of Ronde Van Limburg as Andrea Peron battled his way to 12th in a tough final.
Compatriot Filippo Ridolfo took the race by the scruff of the neck early on, igniting a six rider breakaway move that went clear after 25km of racing, before the race came back together on the challenging final circuits.
“I’m starting to feel better every race,” said Peron. “The micro fracture in my wrist developed into tendonitis and it’s taken longer than we anticipated to clear up. Today was the first race this season where I felt like myself.”
“It took a while for the break to go, but Filippo did a great job of persevering and we got the visibility we need and some respite in the bunch. Not for long though! The last laps reduced the group very quickly and we took them on full gas. It’s a similar circuit to last year’s European Championships and we knew going in it would be hard, so it’s nice to come away with a decent result here in Limburg.”
