Team Novo Nordisk Pushes Through the Climbs at Tour du Jura

The second race of our French one-day classics trilogy, Tour du Jura, came with a great challenge. The 175km route, with a profile that opened up with almost 3000 meters of climbing after a flat opening section, culminated in a dramatic uphill finish on the Mont Poupet. Former Hungarian road and TT champ Peter Kusztor demonstrated his excellent skills and finished as the best rider for Team Novo Nordisk.

Sports Director Gennady Mikhaylov:

“Today’s Tour du Jura was a real challenge for us. The route’s fast pace, narrow roads, and constant up-and-downs through villages made it a challenging day to stay positioned and conserve energy. Our goal was to finish the race safely.”

“Once the peloton hit the 39km mark, the race transformed entirely. As expected, the climbs shattered the group. Attacks flew, breakaways formed, and the peloton splintered further. Adding another layer of difficulty, slight crosswinds buffeted riders on the final brutal climb up Mont Poupet.”

Peter Kusztor:

“Today, my legs felt a bit fatigued compared to yesterday, not as good as I hoped. The pace was very high right from the start and barely let up throughout the entire ride. Despite struggling through a tough 30km uphill stretch, I managed to finish with a strong group. Overall, I’m satisfied with my results of the past two days.”
