Race: Tour of Hainan/ Stage 9
Distance: 165.7 kilometers
Overview: Team Novo Nordisk finished its second year in the professional continental ranks on Tuesday at the Tour of Hainan. The 165.7-kilometer stage saw a trio of escapees hold on until the finish, thwarting a highly anticipated sprint finale in Chengmai. Team Novo Nordisk’s Andrea Peron was the team’s best-placed rider in 22nd place. The 26-year-old celebrated his birthday today and closed out the season with five top 10 finishes.
Results: Wouter Wippert (Drapac Professional Cycling) sprinted to the win ahead of Adrian Kurek (CCC Polsat Polkowice) and Taras Voropayev (Vino4Ever).
Team Novo Nordisk concludes its 2014 season with Stage 9 of the Tour of Hainan. The world’s first all-diabetes pro cycling team will release its 2015 roster within the coming days.
