Queen Stage of the Vuelta Independencia Cancelled

26 February 2015

Race: Vuelta Independencia Nacional Republica Dominicana, Stage 5

Start/Finish: Moca – Constanza, Dominican Republic

Distance: 131 kilometers

Constanza, Dominican Republic: Stage 5 kicked off in a similar fashion to the previous stages — with several early attacks, keeping the pace high. The group stayed together until the base of the first major climb, when a breakaway got away, including David Lozano. The breakaway was intact for the first 10 km of the climb, but the organizers suddenly neutralized the race. Shortly after, the race was cancelled entirely, citing heavy traffic.

Team Novo Nordisk will resume racing tomorrow in Stage 6 of the Vuelta Dominicana featuring a flat, fast circuit in Santiago.
