Taipei City, Taiwan — Team Novo Nordisk’s Charles Planet finished in the top 20 on Sunday’s stage 1 of the Tour de Taiwan.
The opening stage of the Tour de Taiwan was a 52-kilometer race around Taipei City. With rain pouring down throughout the day, the technical corners of the criterium course produce much nervous energy and a crash in the final 300 meters took down several riders. Luke Keough (UnitedHealthcare) took the win and the overall leader’s jersey. Team Novo Nordisk’s neo-pro Charles Planet finished in 18th place, in the same time as Keough.
The world’s first diabetes pro cycling team continues racing at the Tour de Taiwan on Monday with an 180-km race around Taoyuan County, which features three intermediate sprints and one category one climb before a flat finish.
