Mandy Marquardt Takes Pair of Wins at T-Town Time Trial Races

The Valley Preferred Cycling Center in Trexlertown, Penn hosted the fifth edition of the 2020 Ocean Spray Time Trials on July 25. Team Novo Nordisk’s Mandy Marquardt went two-for-two, winning the Women Flying 200m TT and the Women 500m Time Trial.

 

“I’m happy with my performance, considering I’ve been training really hard,” said Marquardt, who uses the T-Town facility as her home track for training. “It’s been fun getting to race under these circumstances, even if it’s only time trials, which mixes training up and is motivating!”

 

Marquardt won the women’s 200m in 11.422. In the women’s 500m, she took the win in 35.397, just a few hundredths of a second short of the T-Town track record set by Lauriane Genest of Canada last year (35.18). 

 

“My all-time best is a 34.8 set in L.A. at U.S. track nationals in July 2019. My time would have placed me second in the men’s Ocean Spray TT this Saturday,” added Mandy with a confident smile. “While it is tragic that track nationals could not take place this year due to the coronavirus, I have to say it is cool to be able to rock the Stars-and-Stripes jersey for one more year in the 500m TT. I will also continue to hold the national title for Sprint and Keirin events.”

 

The outdoor facility at T-Town, with its 333-meter concrete cycling track, will hold three more time trial events this summer for the socially-distancing series. Updates can be found at https://thevelodrome.com/race/masters-and-rookies/.
