Team Novo Nordisk back in France for 39th Tour Poitou
25 August 2025
The worlds first all diabetes professional cycling team line out at their second French stage race of August at the 39th edition of the Tour Poitou-Charentes en Nouvelle-Aquitaine tomorrow on the hunt for breakaway success and stage results.
Italian rouleur Filippo Ridolfo will lead Team Novo Nordisk alongside experienced team captain Andrea Peron with the compatriots ready to take on the punchy mini classic stages one by one.
“Tour Poitou is a great opportunity for Filippo to take some leadership responsibility,” said General Manager Vassili Davidenko. “It’s important for him to take the next step and he will have a strong, experienced team in support with Andrea and David also on hand to guide our younger riders.”
“We’re happy to welcome Hamish Beadleand Alessandro Perracchioneback to racing and with the Czech Tour in his legs the expectation is that Hamish’s form is following an upward curve. Each stage is tough and will provide a good test for us, particularly with a long ITT on stage three coming before what is set to be an exciting finale in Poitiers on stage four.”
Spanish climber David Lozano continues where he left off at the recent Tour of Denmark with Brit Sam Brand and Frenchman Celestin Wattelle completing the team.
“After the Tour of Denmark, I took a few days off and rested a little,” said Ridolfo. “I reset and then I’ve enjoyed some good training in the last few days. I was already in good shape in Denmark, so not I tried not to do too much, just maintain my form and try to arrive as fresh as possible. I’m motivated after seeing that I’m in good shape.
“I feel ready to take the responsibility in France and there are some stages that suit me, so we’ll see how it goes. However I’ll definitely try to take advantage of this opportunity and do what I can to make the most of it.”
