Peron proves evergreen with seventh on stage one in Poitou

26 August 2025

Veteran Team Novo Nordisk sprinter Andrea Peron showed his late summer form on the opening stage of Tour Poitou Charentes Nouvelle Aquitaine today, sprinting into seventh place after some strong teamwork by the American squad.

A long, but steady stage unfolded for the peloton behind four breakaway riders who went clear early, without posing a great threat to the sprinters teams who kept the situation under control.

Team Novo Nordisk stayed sheltered throughout, together until the final circuits before Peron and compatriot Filippo Ridolfo moved into position for the sprint, finishing 7th and 13th respectively.

It was a pretty calm stage throughout,” said Peron. “Well controlled behind the break though we knew it would come to life at the very end and the last 10km were quite hectic as we approached the sprint.”

This kind of course still suits me well and this season I’ve been felling better as we get deeper into the year, so I came in feeling optimistic about Tour Poitou and it’s nice to start strongly. For me and for the team.”
