09 September 2025

From the storm slicked roads of Baltimore to the rolling hills of Tuscany racing continues apace for Team Novo Nordisk with back back to Italian one day events at Giro della Toscana and Gran Premio Città di Peccioli – Coppa Sabatini.

After standout performances at both the Maryland Cycling Classic and Tour of Shanghai last week TNN head into the late summer Italian classics with confidence.

Maryland’s best young rider winner Matyas Kopecky is back alongside Italians Filippo Ridolfo and Antonio Polga and veteran climber David Lozano.

We enjoyed excellent results in both Maryland and Shanghai,” said General Manager Vassili Davidenko. “It would be great to carry that form into Giro della Toscana and Coppa Sabatini, but these are very different races and extremely tough parcours that favor the climbers.”

These Italian races will be great opportunities for Hamish to gain more experience and test himself against the best in the Tuscan hills. Our Italian riders are racing at home and this a chance for them to get into the breakaway, show the jersey and highlight our mission to a community that always shows us great support.”

Brits Hamish Armitt and Sam Brand complete the line up with neo pro Jacopo Colladonand look forward towhat will be the 97th edition of the Giro della Toscana, taking place for over a century in its various guises and the double ascent of the legendary Monte Serra climb that sits between Lucca and Pisa will be decisive.

Coppa Sabatini is in its 73rd year and is comprised of hilly circuits around the picturesque Pisan Citta d’Arte Peccioli with both races boasting a long line of prestigious winners going back to the 1950’s.

As an Italian racing in Italy is always special,” said Ridolfo. “Especially at exciting one day races like Giro della Toscana and Coppa Sabatini, they’re both hilly, old races with a lot of history. You grow up hearing about these races wanting to race them and be part of that history yourself.”

Racing here as athletes with diabetes only makes it more significant and we will give our all to make our supporters proud while trying to show what’s possible and our aim is to get out front early and make ourselves visible. We know that both races are more for the climbers, so we have an eye on the breakaway and supporting David and Hamish as best we can.”
