Ridolfo breaks away on final stage in Slovakia capping a good week for TNN

Italian rouleur Filippo Ridolfo was alive to the action early on the final stage of Okolo Slovenska making it into the early breakaway and showing the Team Novo Nordisk colors on the hilly fifth day of racing.
Repeated climbs and an uphill finish meant for anticipated battle for the general classification in what had so far been a race dominated by the sprinters.
After a top ten on stage two and fifth place on yesterdays stage four team captain Andrea Peron had more than inspired and shown what’s possible for the worlds first all diabetes professional cycling team and knew that the final day of racing was about the breakaway for TNN.
“It’s basically been our goal each day to get to the road as well as going for the sprints with Andrea.” said Ridolfo. “So after the good results of the last few days we were only missing some breakaway action and we knew today was going to be an active one from the start.”
“I wasn’t feeling the best in the beginning and the group whittled down relatively quickly both up front and behind us in the bunch, but we managed to stay away past the halfway point. The GC teams were never going to let us stay away, we were a big group and once things came back together it was about finishing well. I’m happy. Good week and now some training before Munsterland and then Tour of Taihu lake.”
