Race: HARD CRO Ultra Race

Start/Finish: Prevlaka /Ilok, Croatia

Distance1400 kilometers

IlokCroatia — Last weekend, Team Novo Nordisk triathlete Nenad Simunko took part in the first-ever HARD CRO, a 1400-km ultra-marathon cycling race in Nenad’s home country of Croatia, where cyclists must complete the full distance in less than 110 hours, solo and self-supported.

“As you might expect, the race was really hard,” Nenad says. “And since its a self-supported race, I had to take everything with me, which resulted in a very heavy bike. And with 16000m of climbing, that wasn’t very fun. But I like to believe that limits exist only in people’s minds, so my mindset was key. It was realy nice to see a lot of my beautiful country from the bike, and to finish in under 110 hours.”

Out of the 45 riders who started the race, only 28 were able to finish, including Nenad, who took 14th place, with an impressive finishing time of 93:37.
