Lozano rediscovers form on stage two in Sardegna

One of Team Novo Nordisk’s most experienced riders rolled back the years on today’s second stage at the Tour de Sardegna as David Lozano showed his class by reading the race and finishing within the selection that contested the stage.

One by one, the riders of the world’s first all diabetes pro cycling team tried to get a breakaway going on the short stage from Oristano to Carbonia, but every attack was brought back and in the end the key move ended up being the one that decided the stage result.

“The guys cooked themselves trying to get something going at the start,” said Lozano. “Plenty of teams tried but absolutely nothing was going and the pace stayed high. Up and down all day and twisting roads and I just tried to stay as close to the front as possible.”

“50km to go and there were four guys just ahead of my group and it was split behind us into different groups and we caught the leaders on the last climb. Then it was wild west to the finish. I moved up a little in the end and after feeling blocked yesterday it’s nice to be at the front today and feeling good.”
