Peron back in business on stage two in Slovakia

18 September 2025

Experienced Team Novo Nordisk sprinter Andrea Peron raced to another career top ten on stage two of Okolo Slovenskatoday, well positioned at the front after surviving the attacks that came late over the closing climbs of the day.

The 170 kilometer stage to historic Kosice came alive with 50 kilometers left to race as multiple attacks on the categorised ascents of Bansky vrch, Folkmar and Johorna brought back the breakway and split the peloton.

Peron, utilizing all those years of experience was positioned well on the right side and after the last climb the bunch mainly reformed with around 80 riders coming together and Alessandro Perracchione and Antonio Polga also making it through.

The climbs weren’t so bad,” began Peron. “We knew that there would be some teams trying to attack there and make the race hard for the sprinters, so it was a case of being positioned well and staying switched on. Thankfully today the ascents were short.”

Once the main pack reformed on the run into the last 10km we were all in for the sprint and I think we did well. The road surface wasn’t the best, there was quite a lot of bouncing around, but I still feel good in this kind of final and we achieved our goal today. First top ten of the race and now we’ll be going for more.”
