Perracchione and De Graeve finish well in Binche

Team Novo Nordisk banished some demons in Belgium at Binche-Chimay-Bimche today with Italian Alessandro Perracchione and home rider Quinten De Graeve both finishing in the second group on the punchy cobbled finishing laps.

A tough late season one day event that hasn’t been kind to the team in the past, Binche is one of those races where you know it’s all about those last laps, you know what’s coming, you know it will split and you know the last 50km will hurt. But getting through it as another thing and the ambassadors of the worlds diabetes community did everyone proud today.

I felt pretty good throughout,” said De Graeve. “We really wanted to get into the breakaway at the start and tried numerous times, but it took a long time for a move to finally go. Attacks kept being brought back and we’d spent our chips by the time something finally stuck.”

Me and Alesandro were in a good group being led by Alpecin and as we hit the laps around Binche we were quite close to the first group, but as we got deeper in the front of the race slipped further away. I really wanted to finish today and show that, almost like living with diabetes, when a challenge feels too much you can’t give up and you have to dig deeper and keep going because you can make it to the finish line.”
