Rudyk bags three more national titles, showing what’s possible with diabetes

This past weekend, Team Novo Nordisk track rider Mateusz Rudyk won three titles in the Polish National Championships. Rudyk won the 250m with a standing start, Team Sprint and Individual Sprint.

The achievements mean the athlete living with type1 diabetes now has a total of 22 national titles. 

“Being a national champion fills me with great pride,” Rudyk said. “I am glad that I can have this honor and take part in international competitions as the champion of my country. My results confirmed that I am at a high sports level and I am very pleased with it.”

“I never expected that there would be so many of them,” he said speaking of the 22 titles. “I have always done my best to be the best at what I do and now I’m happy to do it and to be able to win my races.”

As a medalist at the World and European Championships, the 26-year-old is no stranger to success. He competed in the Tokyo Olympic games this summer on the biggest stage of them all, celebrating medical innovation and 100 years since the discovery of insulin. He says his achievements hope to inspire those living with diabetes. 

“I am glad that I am constantly showing that with diabetes you can be the best at what you do. I always say that you can do everything with diabetes, you only have to believe in it and pursue your goals.”
