Sam Brand leads the way as Team Novo Nordisk wraps up Tour of Istanbul
06 September 2026
Team Novo Nordisk brought the curtain down on the Tour of Istanbul with a 7.5km individual time trial through Beykoz – a short, sharp, technical test that rewarded punch over pure power. Sam Brand was the team’s top finisher on the day, crossing the line in 43rd, and closed out the race 29th overall on general classification.
It capped a race in which Brand took on a leadership role for the team, riding alongside and mentoring two of the squad’s younger talents, Hayden Stevens and Ollie Clements.
“Today was a tough, short and technical TT, suiting more the sprinter guys, and I knew I had to give my all,” Brand said. “I actually had a great time stepping up. I feel that I’ve found a new sensation and feeling and even better form on the bike, and I’m more motivated than ever.”
Brand felt the responsibility of guiding the team’s next generation added something to his own race.
“It was a privilege to lead the young lads here – Hayden and Ollie were great and eager to learn. I felt strong throughout the race, fighting at the front, and leading has really helped me to step up a level.”
With the Tour of Istanbul now behind them, the focus shifts forward for Brand and the team.
“I’ve learnt a lot at this race and I’m excited to continue building into the busy end of the season.”
