Stage 3, Tour of Istanbul: Terrier Fights for Position in Bunch Sprint

A short, sharp stage 3 at the Tour of Istanbul over 86.2 kilometers saw Team Novo Nordisk work hard to control the race, with Lucas Terrier crossing the line in 25th place after a well-drilled team effort in the closing kilometers.

The reduced-lap circuit made for an intense start, with the peloton pushing hard over the opening two laps as riders tried to force a breakaway clear. Hayden Stevens and Sam Brand put in strong work covering the moves, but it was only in the final two laps that the decisive break of four riders finally got away, gaining nearly two minutes, a gap that proved impossible to close.

With the win out of reach, the team turned its attention to the sprint. On the last lap, the world’s first all diabetes cycling team worked seamlessly to move Hayden and Terrier into position, with Olly Clements delivering a standout effort on the front to set up his teammates. The positioning paid off, with the team well-placed at 3km to go, though Terrier was unable to convert it into a higher finish.

“It’s still some good experience for me on the sprint,” said Terrier. “I am not a sprinter, but with positioning, I feel I can get some results in the future. So now I am super excited for what’s coming next.”
