Team Novo Nordisk Shows Intent on Dynamic Stage 7 in Türkiye
02 May 2026
The penultimate stage of Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye delivered a mix of patience and late-race chaos as the peloton navigated a relatively controlled day that erupted in the closing kilometres.
Team Novo Nordisk executed its strategy early, placing Filippo Ridolfo in the breakaway. The move aligned with the team’s plan to stay active and present at the front of the race, while keeping options open for a sprint finish for Declan Irvine and Andrea Peron. However, the break’s advantage proved short-lived. A surge in pace from the peloton saw the move reeled back in after attempts to split the bunch in crosswinds.
In the closing moments, positioning became everything. Irvine delivered the team’s best result of the day, sprinting to 17th place despite the challenging conditions:
“I came into the final corner slightly off balance but managed to accelerate back onto the front group. Unfortunately, there was no clear space to move forward in the sprint. It was still good for us to execute on our plan today and we will take that momentum into the final day tomorrow.
Ridolfo’s presence in the break highlighted the team’s proactive approach, while the sprint effort from Irvine and teammates demonstrated resilience in difficult conditions.
The final stage takes on a circiut format tomorrow in Ankara over 105.2km.
