TNN Looking East to the Tour of Estonia
28 May 2025
Two days of racing across stunning Estonia from Tallinn to Tartu awaits Team Novo Nordisk with the world’s first all diabetes professional cycling team ready to take the 12th edition head on.
In form sprinter Matyas Kopecky will lead the team alongside the experienced elder statesmen Andrea Peron and 23-year-old rouleur Filippo Ridolfo.
“This year’s Tour of Estonia is a great opportunity for us to do well,” said General Manager Vassili Davidenko. “We have a strong team lining up and our goal is to go there and get a result and the team is ready and motivated to show our best.”
“Estonia is always a challenge, there’s no easy races anywhere and no gifts. But we’ve shown good consistency this year and with a sprint opportunity on stage one followed by some punchy circuits on stage two, it’s terrain that suit our characteristics and we’re looking forward to it.”
Manxman Sam Brand returns to a race that holds special memories for the 34-year-old after enjoying his time in the KOM jersey back in 2019.
“I always love racing at the Tour of Estonia,” said Brand. “Not just for the memories, but the place and the people make it a special experience. I was in the breakaway in 2019, taking the KOM jersey into the final stage, which was a huge honour for me. The style of racing over the two stages is so unique with a point to point stage one and Kermesse style stage two, It brings a bit of everything that’s why I love it so much.”
“We are coming of the back of a string of great results for the team and Matyas so it would be great for me to help deliver him to the line in the best shape possible.”
Italians Antonio Polga and Umberto Poli complete the line up along with Belgian Quinten De Graeve.
