Top 30 for Planet at the Paris-Tours

12 October 2020

Race: Paris-Tours

Start/Finish: Chartres – Tours

Distance: 213km

Charles Planet (FRA)

‘’After my crash at the Brabantse Pijl I really wanted to do well here in France. The weather wasn’t the best – rainy and sunny and rainy again the whole day – and the pace was quite high since the beginning.

Once again, my teammates have been fantastic. They helped me to stay ahead to be in the front of the bunch for the final 50 kilometers.

It would have been nice to end the season with a top 10 but I am happy with the 26th place. There was great teamwork and I gave it all, so I have no regrets.’’

Massimo Podenzana, DS

‘’Charles was feeling good today and the whole team was motivated to bring home a good result in our final race of the 2020 season.

The plan was to stay with the bunch and save energies for the final 50-60 kilometers, made of 12.5 kilometers of unpaved gravel and seven punchy climbs.

The breakaway of the day was with only 6 men; the guys followed the strategy remaining within the peloton. They all worked well together and supported Charles in order to have him in the front when the unpaved gravel started.

The 26th place of Charles is a good result in such a prestigious race and I am happy with how the guys worked together.

Now it’s time for some recovery before starting the training for 2021 season.’’
