Ridolfo to the fore again at Tour Poitou-Charentes

Italian Filippo Ridolfo is enjoying a year of rediscovery for Team Novo Nordisk after a lost 2024 and showed his desire and form once again today at Tour Poitou-Charentes Nouvelle Aquitaine with 14th place on the final stage.

A wet 185.9km last stage brought the four day race to a close and once again the action was limited to the final laps as the peloton sat comfortably albeit sodden behind the five rider breakaway.

With less than 15km remaining the front of the race exploded and fresh attacks reeled in the leaders and set the mark for the finale as a select group went away. Ridolfo was chasing just behind and despite a valiant effort finished just outside the top ten, but happy with the all round performance.

“It’s been a really good four days of racing to be honest,” said Ridolfo. “I came in feeling good and aside from a couple of positional errors, which are to be learned from, I’m relatively pleased with how it’s gone and we’re heading in the right direction.”

“I’ve been lacking in confidence after the disappointment of last season and gradually that’s returning with each race and having the freedom to try in the finals is helping me there. We started really strongly with Andrea in 7th on the first stage and racing with him, learning from him is always good and I just need to have more faith in myself in the finals.”
