Sprinters rule the roost once more on stage three of Okolo Slovenska

The Queen stage of this years Okolo Slovenska surprised more than a few teams by coming back together for another sprint finale with Team Novo Nordisk and Andrea Peron happy with another chance to compete.

Five categorized climbs across 190km including the first category ascent of Sedlo Plasiva followed by two more before the finish, yet despite the terrain and the attacks the race came back together inside the final 20km and another fast finish ensued with Peron this time in 13^th.

“I took too much wind in the last 5km and spent too much energy,” said Peron. “The result reflects that, and I’m frustrated to be outside the top ten after the work we’d done to be up there today.”

“The stage was tough, but the explosions on the climbs never materialized and even with the attacks that came later you always felt like it would come down to a sprint. Tomorrow is almost pan flat and the aim is for as uneventful a stage as possible before what should be another fast finish in Sladkovicovo and we’ll do our best to be up there once again.”
