Peron Just Outside Top 10 on Szlakiem Walk Mjr Hubala Finale

03 June 2018

Race: Szlakiem Walk Majora Hubala, stage 4

Start/Finish: Radoszyce/Konskie, Poland

Distance: 176 kilometers

KONSKIE, POLAND — Team Novo Nordisk finished the first half of its 2018 racing season on Sunday with a hard and fast sprint stage in Poland. Andrea Peron came 11th with strong assistance from teammates over four hours of nervous racing against a strong peloton led by determined Polish riders in front of a home crowd.

With the end of the Szlakiem Walk Majora Hubala, the world’s first all-diabetes professional cycling team concludes 33 days of racing that began in February in Dubai and included World Tour appearances at the Abu Dhabi Tour and Milano-Sanremo, plus an appearance at the Commonwealth Games where Sam Brand represented the Isle of Man in Australia.

All 16 riders will now take a much-deserved break and then begin preparing for the second half of 2018, with scheduled races in Canada, Denmark, Hungary, China and Japan before the season is over.

CHARLES PLANET

“The breakaway was only two guys and we caught them with 50km to go. The Polish riders really wanted to break the peloton before the sprint, but we did everything to keep it together for Andrea at the end. Today was our last day of the first half of the season, so we’re all really happy about that. Now we will have a rest and then get ready for some really important races later in the year.”
