“There is no shame in preferring happiness” – Camus

This quote emphasizes the moment I chose to pursue my dream instead of persisting in my fate, and it helps me in my life now when the time comes to make decisions.

PROFILE

Making the jump from the Team Novo Nordisk Development team to the senior pro team for 2026 is 19-year-old French talent Lucas Terrier.

An excellent debut season with the Devo’s in 2025 saw Terrier impress with positive performances in every race he participated in and highlights coming at the Tour of the Gila, Tour of Hellas, Dokola Mazowsza in Poland and the Giro della Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia in Italy.

Born in Gleizé in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region Terrier has a climbers build, but races well as a puncheur with the potential to develop a fast finish. Terrier has younger twin sisters and grew up enjoying an active lifestyle, developing an early passion for cycling.

After a period of rapid weight loss, constant dehydration and an excessive need to urinate Terrier was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Initially scared and confused, Terrier didn’t know what to expect and was told that sport may not be a good idea anymore.

However, after finding about Team Novo Nordisk he contacted former pro rider Quentin Valognes who put him in touch with team CEO & Co-Founder Phil Southerland and the young Terrier was relieved to hear that the reality was completely the opposite and that sport and a healthy lifestyle would help him manage his diabetes.

Five years later Terrier attended his first TNN Talent ID camp and was blown away by the experience, two more camps later and Terrier was selected for the Development team. Now, four years on and at only 19-years-old he’s racing his first full pro season.

Off the bike Terrier is studying for a sports science degree and loves spending time with his girlfriend and his family.
