Big block of Belgian racing kicks off in Circuit Franco-Belge

27 May 2024

Team Novo Nordisk will be put to the test when it lines up for Circuit Franco-Belge on 29 May. The parcours features no less than fourteen recognized climbs and with several World Tour teams lining up, racing is expected to be at a high level.

Andrea Peron and Matyas Kopecky return to lead the team after a short break from racing since the International Tour of Hellas where both speedsters excelled.

“Circuit Franco Belge marks the start of a significant couple of weeks of racing for us in Belgium,” said General Manager Vassili Davidenko. “Competing against the biggest and best teams in the world in one of the heartland’s of European cycling and that’s a great  motivator for us to show our best side.”

“Both Andrea and Matyas showed in Greece that their understanding is growing quickly and our ambition is to be in the top ten or higher at Franco Belge. They have the support of a strong team behind them and we see their combination of youth and experience as a good thing. They have speed in common and we want to see them use that in the final.”

Kopecky excelled in the team’s first block of racing in Belgium and France early this season over similar terrain. The 21 year old who is enjoying another impressive season is looking forward to lining up.

“I am expecting the level of racing to be very high. When you look at the start list, some of the best teams in the world will be there but this is something that excites me,” Kopecky said. “The racing in Greece was probably the best team work we’ve done all season so far and hopefully we can take momentum from that as we are going to be on top of our game to get a result here.”
