Ridolfo top 20 on opening stage in Denmark
12 August 2025
A mixed bag for Team Novo Nordisk on stage one of PostNord Denmark Rundt with Italian Filippo Ridolfo finishing positively in 18th, but with some disappointment after missing the key split on the day.
After the early break went clear the race settled down behind, but not for long with the leaders only allowed a gap of two minutes. The winning move came inside the final 40km with the attack coming on the first Driving Change in Diabetes hill sprint and the bunch never saw the front of the race again.
“It’s disappointing for sure,” said Ridolfo. “We missed the move when Trek attacked on the KOM and bridged to the front and one of us should have been there. It was hard to be at the front on the narrow roads, but that’s not an excuse…I think everyone in the race knows who we need to try and follow here, doing it is another matter.”
“Tomorrow is a really important stage for us with the finish outside Novo Nordisk and we have to try to show ourselves. It will be a fast and short stage, but we know the finish well and we’ll work to help Matyas in the final.”
