PROFILE
Another new addition to the Team Novo Nordisk Development team for 2026 is the exciting young Spanish prospect Ivan Blanco.
Joining the team after a successful trial at the recent pre-season training camp in Alicante, 19 year old Blanco comes from the Galicia region in northwest Spain and has lived with Type 1 diabetes since he was four years old.
Despite his young age when diagnosed Blanco’s family were fotunate to have a great doctor who advised them that exercise would help with glucose control and diabetes management. As a result Blanco started riding a bike at the age of six and has continued to progress over the years.
Taking part in the Spanish junior racing series and finishing third in the regional championships in Galicia in 2023 are highlights in Blanco’s young carreer and after learning about the team’s existence a few years ago, it has been a target for the youngster to join TNN for a while.
Cycling has been such a big part of Blanco’s life for many years that he doesn’t have much time for anything else, but when he is off the bike he enjoys helping out on his grandparents’ farm and spending time with his girlfriend.
