PROFILE
German Rouleur Marco Grittner is in his first year with the Team Novo Nordisk Development team, joining after successfully attending the TNN Talent ID camp in Tuscany in the summer of 2025.
Grittner hails from Weingarten close to Lake Constance and has been involved in competitive sports since he was five years old first ice hockey and swimming, then inline speed skating, which led to ice speed skating and short track. Competing nationally and internationally for over a decade before switching the focus to cycling after his diagnosis with Type 1 diabetes
When he was 22 years old Grittner was riding from Ravensburg to Lake Garda in Italy, during the ride he experienced severe cramps, exhaustion and extreme thirst. After a visit to the doctor when he came home, Grittner discovered he had Type 1 diabetes. The first person in his family with diabetes, the initial reaction of shock and disbelief quickly turned into drive and determination.
Discovering Team Novo Nordisk almost immediately Grittner started to train more seriously and made it his goal to join the team, now in 2026 that goal has become reality.
Off the bike Grittner is in a long-term relationship with his girlfriend and is studying both English and Sports Science. He is passionate about design history, fashion and building furniture.
