PROFILE
Slovenian all rounder Timotej Banovec is in his first year with Team Novo Nordisk Development team after successfully participating in the team’s 2025 Talent ID camp in Italy.
Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was 12 years old, Banovec experienced a severe loss of energy followed by extreme weight loss over a short space of time and after undergoing various tests at the hospital, he was found to have Type 1.
The diagnosis came as a shock, but Banovec adapted quickly. His family doctor told him that sport would help him manage his dabetes and not long after he started cycling, discovering a new found love for two wheels after going on a school trip.
His passion quickly developed into competition and in 2019 Banovec started racing both road and mountain bikes, eventually racing at national and international junior level.
Off the bike the 21 year old enjoys hiking, spending time outdoors and servicing bikes in his home town.
