Kopecký 12th as Team Novo Nordisk Closes Out a Strong Week in Taihu Lake
12 October 2025
The 2025 Tour of Taihu Lake came to a close with another high-speed and aggressive day of racing, as Team Novo Nordisk capped off a solid week of teamwork and consistency with Matyáš Kopecký finishing 12th in the sprint finale around Wuxi.
The 137.5-kilometer stage saw relentless attacking from the start, with no breakaway forming for over two hours. Once a small move finally went clear in the closing 40 kilometers, the focus shifted to setting up the sprint and keeping the team’s fast finishers well positioned.
“It was a pretty fast stage again,” said David Lozano. “We didn’t have any breakaway for over two hours, so it was constant attacks all day. We were in all the dangerous moves and stayed active. Once the small group went, it was all about positioning our sprinters. We had a good train in the last kilometers, and while this kind of finish suits pure sprinters, overall we can be happy with how it went.”
Filippo Ridolfo played a key role in the final kilometers, helping to line up Andrea Peron and Matyáš Kopecký for the sprint.
“There were lots of attacks early on, but nothing serious stuck,” said Filippo Ridolfo. “I worked with Matyáš to try to grab some bonus seconds, but it wasn’t easy. In the last 20 kilometers, we were in a really good position, and I did a long pull until the final kilometer to put Andrea and Matyáš in a great spot for the sprint.”
The stage was won by Matteo Malucelli (XDS–Astana Team), who also sealed the overall victory.
Team Novo Nordisk leaves the Tour of Taihu Lake proud of their collective effort and consistent teamwork across four demanding stages, ending the race safely, actively, and with their mission to inspire the diabetes community at the heart of every performance.
