Team Novo Nordisk Fights Hard at La Roue Tourangelle
29 March 2026
Team Novo Nordisk showed grit and determination at today’s Roue Tourangelle, with riders
animating the race from start to finish.
Declan Irvine wasted no time getting involved, launching an attack straight out of the neutr
zone. Joined by two riders initially, the breakaway group grew to six, and the riders worked
seamlessly together for nearly 160 kilometers. Declan gave everything he had, powering the
group forward and staying clear of the peloton for most of the race.
“I attacked right after the neutral start and was joined by two riders. We worked well together,
and a few more joined us to make a group of six. We stayed ahead for most of the race, but I
hit my limit with 20 kilometers to go and had to drop back. I finished strong in the peloton and
was happy to earn my first podium and interview of the season (prize for most aggressive
rider) – plus a trophy and some wine, which made it extra special!” – said Irvine.
Behind the break, Filippo Ridolfo rode a smart and resilient race. The first 60 kilometers
were steady, but the pace ramped up with a series of punchy climbs that, while not overly
difficult, created a stressful rhythm. Thanks to support from teammate Célestin Wattelle,
Filippo stayed near the front and responded to the early attacks.
“The first 60 kilometers were calm, but then the climbs started. They weren’t too hard but
made the race tense. Célestin helped me get through the early attacks at the front. Around
20 kilometers to go, a group of 15 riders broke away. I was close to joining them but couldn’t
quite bridge the gap at the top of the climb, so I focused on staying well positioned for the
sprint finish.” – reflected Ridolfo.
With 20 kilometers remaining, a group of 15 riders broke clear. Filippo was close to joining
them but couldn’t quite close the gap over the top of the climb. He then focused on
positioning for the sprint, finishing just behind the lead group in a strong display of
endurance and tactical savvy.
Today’s race was a testament to Team Novo Nordisk’s fighting spirit and teamwork. Declan’s
long breakaway and Filippo’s tactical ride highlight the team’s commitment to pushing hard
and racing smart, no matter the challenge.
